As part of its effort to kick start the dwindling tourism and travel business in Ethiopia, Tourism Ethiopia in collaboration with local tour and travel agents, hosted a 30 km biking tour stretching from the low lands of Afar region(Gachene) to the neighboring peaks of famously called Ankober Menelik Palace in the Amhara regional state.
Afar to Ankober Bike Tour was an adventure and a testimony as the perfect way to visit the highest peaks in Ethiopia,
said the participants.

The proceeds from the tour will be used to support freelance tourism professionals who are affected by the covid-19, according to the statement from the tour organizers.

Over 60 participants a mix of diplomatic community and residents in Addis Ababa attended the first ever biking event.
Tourism Ethiopia, the organizer, says it will continue to hold similar promotion events such as boating in Tana Lake of Bahirdar and track running in Bokoji, home of renowned athletes the likes of Kenenesa Bekele and Tirunesh Dibaba.
