Hotel in Ethiopia

Ethiopia established its first hotel in Addis Ababa, the Capital city, during Emperor Menelik II regime. It was his wife named Empress Taitu Betuel who built Taitu Hotel in 1905 to provide accommodation & meal services for foreign guests.

The arrival of Tourists has been increasing in Ethiopia which motivates investors to invest in Tourism & hotel industry. Twenty years ago there were less than 10 standard hotels in Addis Ababa. Now, there are over 160. In total, it is estimated that there are more than 600 hotels across the country.

Addis Ababa is also the head quarter of the AU & Economic commission for Africa, UNECA, the 3^rd diplomatic city next to New York and Brussels and a seat of international institutions. To accommodate the demand for standard and luxury hotels, many hotels have been built. Some of the five star hotels incudes: Getfam, Sheraton Addis, Elilly International, Capital Hotel & Spa, Radison Blue and Golden Tulip Addis Ababa.
