Friendship Square(as named lately), part of beautifying Sheger (nick name for Addis Ababa) Project and a Landmark recreational Public space in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has come to life in the presence of Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and PM Abiy Ahmed, the Chinese Ambassader to Ethiopia and many other diginitaries and project stakeholders.

A seat of the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and one of the few diplomatic cities in the world and the tourism hubs in the continent of Africa, the square will add a significant face-lift to the city of Addis Ababa.
The project fits Addis Ababa’s reputation as the political capital of Africa,
Sahle-Work, the president, in the Friendship Square inauguration Ceremony.
Ethiopians optimism for peace, security, and new hope has never been higher than today, at the beginning of Ethiopian New Year 2013, after months of travel and social restrictions due to the emergency of COVID-19 pandemic.

The PM has also conveyed congratulatory and thank you messages.
The Chinese financed and built the park as part of the China Aid program in less than a year after a call from PM Abiy, the brainchild of the project. The Chinese reps were aslo buoyant in realizing the Flagship and friendship Project as they called it at the inauguration event.
