Ethiopia has started disinfecting tourist attraction sites in Addis Ababa, the capital, as a part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The disinfection measure was started at the National Museum in Addis Ababa and it will continue to other historical and cultural sites in the country including Tiya Stele, Harar Fortified Historic Town, Gondar Fasiledes Castle, Lalibela Rock-Hewn Churches according to news sources.

The move is intended to make the sites safe for post COVID-19 visiting period as tourism authorities indicated further stating that signs will be put on pavements of the sites disinfected to remind those entering to the places of the preventive measures taken.

Listed as one of the seven countries that will attract more tourists in post COVID-19 period by Forbes, Ethiopia is touted to have prepared well for post COVID-19 recovery of its tourism sector.

Last month, UNWTO had issued guidelines to partner countries to keep the tourism sites safe for visitors and boost the confidence of the industry faster and it is encouraging that Ethiopia is doing its part.
