Erar is location is the most convenience guest house to begin the trek from Axum, 3 hours drive from Axum airport or town. Located in an isolated part of the western escarpment has amazing view points towards the west to the mountain of Adewa.
The trek can be done from pick up from Axum and drop off at Rahaya, there are two options of hike, you walk straight to the guest house Walk along escarpment to Erar is up to 2hrs, Stunning views at sunset, or walk down to the pretty village of Kait Mariam with specail rock hewn church, walk down 1 hour and walk up about 2 hours.
