Fly from Addis to Historical town of Gondar. Gondar was once the capital city of Ethiopia. Visiting the castles and Debre Birhan selassie church , are prime attractions in Gondar. Next day,  drive to Simien mountains National park and hike for 5 days and back to Gondar to fly back to Addis Ababa. This trip fir for those who like Nature and History.

Itinerary 

Day1:- Addis Ababa- Gondar

Moring flight to Gondar town. The 17 century town has wonderful castle architecture. Visit may include half a dozens of castles build by different emperors located at Fasildes compound, Debre Birhan Selassie church which has great roof arts. If time allows visit the quesquam ruin. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2:-Gondar- Debark/ 3 hours drive ,  3-4 hours  walk.

After breakfast drive to the Simien Mountains National park. The car drops off at the head quarter, here the guide process entry to the mountain meantime tourist can have a coffee. Then, start the introductory walk to the first camp site to Sanakber camp. Today’s walk is easy walk on the flat terrain along the Northern edge of the escarpment with great viewpoints along the way. You will be encountered with Gelada baboon along this trek.

Overnight stay at Sankaber camp.

Day 3- Sankaber- Gich camp- Walk 6-7 hours.

Have breakfast, and trek to Gich camp. Full day hike via the main viewpoints of the simien mountains on through fields.  Up on arrival at Jimbar river, stop and have lunch enjoy the view towards the river while eating lunch.  Experience, community lifestyle by visiting one of the farmers’ house, village life going on around this campsite. A place to spot lammergeyer and thick billed raven. Take time to relax & short hike up to Kedadit to watch the last ray of sunset and return to the camp for dinner.

Overnight stay at Gich camp.

Day 4- Gich Camp

You will spend this day discovering area close to Gich camp, see troop of Gelada Baboons. Stay the night at Gich Camp.

Day5-Gich – Chennek camp. 7-8 hours Trek + stops.

Trek to  camp Chennek ,through the Jinbar river valleys & its escarpments ,you will climb to a summit of 4070m where you will have lunch .After lunch, the trek takes about  2 hours downhill walk along a steep trail .Up on arrival at the camp, you will be served  snacks. If you feel strong ,  out for a walk  to watch look around in all direction. Sit spot  and  be able to access the views pretty easily. Overnight stay at Chennek camp.

Day 6- Chennek- Gondar- 5 hours walk + 4 hours drive.

Breakfast at Chenneck camp. Trek to mount Buahit which located at an altitude of 4430mas, enjoy the wonderful view here, &walk back to meet vehicle to Gondar town. You may stay the night in Gondar town, take the Morning flight the next day or drive straight to the Gondar airport and take afternoon flight to Addis Ababa.
